SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City's Hogle Zoo is welcoming four young lions as part of a new African Savanna exhibit.
The public will be able to meet the lions starting Friday. Zoo spokeswoman Erica Hansen said the zoo hasn't had any lions in more than eight years since the last one died of old age.
The lions include two boys and two girls. The boys are 3-year-old brothers named Baron and Vulcan. The girls are 2-year-old sisters named Seyla and Nabu.
Hansen says the female lions aren't interested in the boys yet, but zoo officials are hopeful they'll someday have lion cubs.
The second phase of the African Savanna is set to open in late May and will feature giraffe, zebra, nyala and guinea fowl.
