SALT LAKE CITY — Shots were fired in a Salt Lake City neighborhood early Friday. Police say the target was a middle-aged couple's house.
The house is located near 1200 South and 100 West.
Salt Lake City police said the couple, in their late 40s or early 50s, were the only ones home when the house was shot at around 1 a.m. No one was injured but the husband inside the home was transported to a hospital to be checked after an anxiety attack.
Officers found nearly a dozen shell casings outside the home and bullet holes in the house, possibly from an assault rifle.
Most neighbors didn't see anything because they were too frightened to look outside, police said. However one neighbor told police they saw at least two people on foot, dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts, running from the home.
Police don’t know why this home was targeted. They were looking into the home’s history as well as relatives of the couple who lives there.
