KEARNS — A woman who police say assisted in stealing a man's car after asking him for a ride, has been arrested.
In January, a woman met a man at a West Valley convenience store and asked him for a ride to her brother's house, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. The man, who drove a Chrysler 300, was from Idaho, he said.
The woman had the man drive to 4735 South and 4520 West and then park in front of a vacant house, Hoyal said. Shortly after pulling over, an SUV with two men pulled up behind them.
The men pulled a box cutter on the driver and forced him out of the car, Hoyal said. The man "took off running down the street" while the two male suspects and the woman took his car, Hoyal said.
Investigators found the car abandoned a couple of days later.
Saturday, based on surveillance video from the convenience store, police identified, located and arrested 35-year-old Jessica Ann Wright and booked her into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.
The search continued Sunday for the other two men.
