SALT LAKE CITY — The Humane Society of Utah is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for shooting a cat with an arrow.
Humane Society officials said Friday the organization would pay $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting of a cat in Washington City.
"The Humane Society is gravely concerned about cases of animal abuse throughout our state,” said executive director Gene Baierschmidt. “If this $3,000 reward leads to an arrest and conviction, it will hopefully send a message that prevents heinous acts like this from happening again.”
The feral cat was found Wednesday in Nisson Park, 30 S. 200 West, with an arrow through its mouth and protruding out of its back. A veterinarian was able to remove the arrow and the cat is recovering at Animal Welfare Services in Washington City.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call HSU at 801-261-2919 or Animal Welfare Services in Washington City at 435-673-7194.
