ROCK SPRINGS — After an infant was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital with suspected head trauma and “significant burns,” a man has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse.

Wednesday, Rock Springs police in Wyoming were alerted to a possible case of child abuse. A 6-month-old was admitted to an area hospital emergency room with burns on its body and swelling and fluid in the brain, Rock Springs police said.

The baby was flown to PCH, where the infant was treated and placed in protective custody by law enforcement.

The Department of Family Services and Rock Springs Police Department investigated the incident. The departments have arrested and charged Christopher Schanno, 31, with two counts of aggravated child abuse.
