CENTERVILLE — A losing candidate in a Centerville City Council race has filed complaints against his opponent and the mayor-elect, alleging they didn't properly disclose certain campaign costs.
Centerville City Recorder Marsha Morrow confirmed that about a dozen complaints have been filed against mayor-elect Paul Cutler and City Councilwoman-elect Tami Fillmore. Some of those complaints came from Centerville resident George McEwen, who failed in his bid for City Council earlier this month.
McEwen alleges Cutler did not properly disclose the value of an in-kind donation from the Salt Lake Board of Realtors, which helped fund a Facebook ad campaign. Fillmore, McEwen says, "failed to report major expenses" and amended her spending reports within six days of the election.
The city has not determined whether any campaign laws were violated, Morrow said. She said she will meet with attorneys from Centerville and Davis County on Tuesday, and the Utah Lt. Governor's Office has been apprised of the situation.
"No decision or determination has been made one way or the other," Morrow said. "We're just looking into it."
