FARMINGTON — A man is recovering after he fell into freezing water while duck hunting in the dark at Farmington Bay.
Search and rescue teams were called out around 9:30 p.m. Monday, according to Sgt. Jason Boydston with the Davis County Sheriff's Office.
The man's wife got worried when he didn't come home at his usual time, so she went looking for him. She found his truck, but he was nowhere in sight so she called authorities.
It took Davis County rescue crews two hours to locate him. A medical helicopter crew using night vision goggles found the man in the water.
He was being treated for hypothermia, but is expected to be OK.
The sheriff's department reminds people it's best not to be on the water after dark and alone.
"This is Farmington Bay and quite a few people come out here to duck hunt. It's always best to have someone with you anytime you go out on a boat in the water," Boydston said.
