SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah airline pilot is facing federal charges after being accused of groping a 14-year-old girl while he was a passenger on a flight from Detroit to Salt Lake City.
A criminal complaint from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Utah shows 45-year-old James Michael Pascal of Park City is charged with abusive sexual contact.
Court documents show the girl told investigators that she woke up from a nap on an Oct. 26 flight and found Pascal's hand under her, gripping her buttocks. She elbowed Pascal, who said he was sorry and that he was sleeping.
The girl told flight attendants on the Delta Airlines flight and changed seats.
Pascal, a pilot with a regional airline carrier that contracts with Delta, told investigators he fell asleep and didn't realize where his hands were.
