SPRINGVILLE (AP) — A Springville man is in jail after police say he constructed and ignited several pipe bombs at his home.
Court records show 35-year-old Steven James Strong was arrested on Oct. 13 after police received a call that he was setting off explosives at his home.
Springville police say Strong showed an officer pieces of plastic pipe and gunpowder he put inside.
Police say Strong said he had already ignited four or five of the devices.
Strong is being held in the Utah County jail on a felony charge of recklessness with an explosive device.
The Utah County Public Defender's Office said the agency had received Strong's case Tuesday morning and an attorney was not yet available to comment.
