SOUTH SALT LAKE — Just moments before Santiago Crespo allegedly killed Ann Marie Jensen, police say he sent a text to an acquaintance:
"I'm about to do something I wished I didn't have to."
That information was contained in a newly released search warrant filed in 3rd District Court.
Ann Marie Jensen, 43, was shot multiple times and killed in her apartment, 2389 S. 300 East, on Nov. 4, 2012.
In February, Christopher Grant Sutton, 37, was charged with murder and aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies; obstructing justice, a second-degree felony; and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony.
A month later, Santiago Diaz Crespo, 54, was charged with the same crimes, except for the obstruction charge.
Jensen said Crespo — a man she bought drugs from — raped her and she was going to tell police, charging documents state. Crespo later got a gun from an acquaintance, telling him he "needed to deal with a snitch," according to prosecutors. Jensen was shot three times.
In a newly released search warrant affidavit for Crespo's cellphone, police say Crespo sent a picture text of Jensen's front door to an acquaintance about the same time of the killing along with the message: "I'm about to do something I wished I didn't have to. I'll get back to you later."
Police say both Sutton and Crespo were dropped off a block away from Jensen's residence on the day of the killing and were seen putting on gloves and hoodies. Crespo was seen giving Sutton "a large amount of cocaine," charging documents state.
Both men have been ordered to stand trial. Crespo's next scheduled court appearance is Dec. 6; Sutton is scheduled for Nov. 1.
