TOOELE — Several cars unexpectedly puttered to a stop in Tooele Saturday as their confused drivers wondered what had gone wrong.

If it weren't for Facebook, the frustrated motorists might still be scratching their heads. Paul Mascarenas was among the stalled drivers, and he said he wouldn't have known what had happened to his vehicle if he hadn't discovered posts about the rumored diesel gas mix-up on his social media feed.

The Facebook posters were right: Diesel oil had accidentally been loaded into the unleaded gasoline pumps at Tooele's Holiday Oil.

Mike Wagstaff, president of the company, confirmed the mistake. He said about 30 vehicles were affected.

Wagstaff said the company will pay to have those customers' gas tanks flushed and filled back up.

Customers who pumped the wrong gas into their cars are encouraged to call the store for more information at 435--843-1095.
