DAVIS COUNTY — A semitrailer crash slowed the morning commute on I-15 in Davis County Thursday morning. UHP said drowsy driving may have been a contributing factor.

According to Utah Highway Patrol troopers, a Suzuki car and a semitrailer carrying produce were northbound on I-15 and collided just north of Parrish Lane around 4:30 a.m.

The semitrailer rolled over the guardrail that divides traffic and landed on its side in the southbound lanes. The car blocked a northbound lane.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

UHP posted on its webpage, "Fatigue on the part of the Suzuki's driver initially appears to be a contributing factor, but information is limited at this time."

The crash is causing significant delays.

"We were not able to upright the truck but to try to get traffic moving we drug the truck off the side of the road. We'll deal with it later," said Sgt. Matt Spillman with the UHP.

UHP will likely upright the semitrailer after the rush-hour commute.

Spillman said at the time of the crash the roads were dry, so weather was not a factor.

All lanes reopened but significant delays continued on I-15 and Legacy Parkway. Get traffic updates on KSL Newsradio.
