SALT LAKE CITY — Investigators arrested a man Monday they say robbed two banks.

Mark Bolinder, 45, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. near 1400 West and North Temple, Unified police said.

UPD announced Monday morning that detectives were looking for Bolinder in connection with the Saturday robbery of Chase Bank, 6275 S. Highland Drive, Sandy.

Police believe Bolinder entered the bank at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, handed the teller a note demanding money, claimed he had a gun and then left with an undisclosed amount of cash in a maroon Honda Accord.

"It does take some nerve to walk into a bank in the first place and actually demand some money with just a note," said Unified Police Detective Jared Richardson.

Just as his name was being released to the public Monday, the same man was believed to have robbed Zions Bank, 1635 S. Redwood Road, just before 10:30 a.m.

Unified police said they considered Bolinder to be "armed and dangerous."

"We are considering him armed and dangerous because he is doing bank robberies and has threatened to brandish a weapon," Richardson said. "We're just not sure what he's capable of."

Similar to the robbery on Saturday, the man robbing the bank did not wear a disguise.

"Obviously he's needing the money for some reason where he's able to justify himself that he can just go in without any disguise and go right up and demand the money," Richardson said.

Police said they have had quite a few bank robberies lately where people have come in with no disguise on.

"It may be the fact that they're thinking that their disguise would draw more attention to themselves," Richardson said.
