SALT LAKE CITY — More than 115 companies and 4,000 volunteers in Utah participated in the annual United Way Day of Caring, a community-wide service effort benefiting over 100 non-profit organizations.

Employees of Deseret Management Company, including KSL and Deseret Digital Media, joined the "Read Today" literacy service project at Granger Elementary (3700 South 1950 West). Volunteers read with almost 600 students (K-3 graders), either one-on-one or in small groups, for approximately 2 hours.

An age-appropriate book and "Read Today" book bag were given to each child in grades K-3 courtesy of funding from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation.
