WOODS CROSS — A 4-year-old West Valley City girl was in critical condition after she was run over by a car pulling into a driveway.
The girl was standing in a driveway at 1413 W. 2175 South about 7:30 p.m. Monday when she was hit, Woods Cross police detective Adam Osoro said. The driver was distracted by other children playing nearby and didn't see the girl, Osoro said.
"The driver was arriving home, pulled into their driveway, felt their vehicle run over something, pulled into the garage and at that time discovered it was a child," Osoro said.
The girl was taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition, he said. The child was visiting family members who live in the neighborhood.
