PAYSON — Police have offered a $5,000 reward to find out what happened in the hit and run death of a Spanish Fork teenager, but so far no one has given information.

Police and medical examiners have determined that Nathan Tyler Haun, 17, was hit and killed by a vehicle while he was walking home from a party on July 13. They know he left the party in a truck around 2 a.m. and that he was dropped off about a mile from where he was later hit.

Haun was walking along Arrowhead Trail, a two lane country road that locals often use as a shortcut between Payson and Spanish Fork. However, police still haven't been able to get anyone to talk to them during the investigation.

"We don't know if that's just because they don't like us, because they have something that they fear if they tell us they'll be in trouble for," said Sgt. Spencer Cannon from the Utah County Sheriff's office. "There's a core group of about 5-6 people who have no desire to talk to us. They've told us that, and in a couple of cases the parents have told us we're not talking to their kids."

Cannon said it typically looks suspicious whenever someone won't talk to investigators about a death, and Nathan's father, Preston, hopes that someone will eventually open up.

"Somebody knows what happened," Preston said. "Accident or not, somebody knows something. It's on their car. They didnt' realize they did it. They did it on purpose. People talk. Somebody knows something, and more than anything, we want closure."

Police said that until someone comes forward with information, the rumors will continue to be spread throughout the area and on Nathan's facebook page.

Nathan's funeral was held earlier in the week.
