LOGAN — Cache County crews are responding to a propane tank explosion that happened after a woman opened her camper door.

The fire occurred near Logan Canyon Temple Fork after police said a woman reportedly pulled over to the side of the road and opened her camper door at which point a propane tank exploded. The camper had two ATVs on a hauler trailer that were damaged in the fire.

Police said the woman was transported to Logan Regional Hospital with minor burns on her hands and smoke inhalation. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Officials said the fire started to spread from the road into wildland area, but Cache County responders were able to contain the flames quickly. The fire spread a few hundred yards before being contained.

The area responders were dispatched to a forest service trail 12 miles up the canyon. The trail is used as a designated route for ATVs and several campers were parked in the area at the time of the fire.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
