TREMONTON — A 57-year-old woman is dead following a crash on Interstate 15 near the border of Tremonton and Elwood.
Faymarie Eames, of Brigham City, entered northbound I-15 from Elwood Saturday at about 8:47 p.m. About a mile from the freeway entrance, she crossed her Buick Park Avenue sedan from the right lane into the left lanes of northbound traffic. As she crossed the outside lanes of traffic, she was broadsided by a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The Utah Highway Patrol said it appeared she was attempting to turn left toward the median turn-thru.
Eames had to be extricated from her vehicle by emergency responders. She was transported to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, where medical personnel declared her dead.
The driver of the pickup, Rondell S. Nielson, 52, of Garland, Utah, was also transported to the Tremonton hospital. He was treated for injuries to his arm.
The inside lane of I-15 was closed for two hours Saturday night while UHP investigated the crash.
