MIDWAY, Wasatch County — A 15-year-old girl missing for about five hours in Wasatch Mountain State Park was found safe about 8 p.m. Thursday.
Wasatch County Sheriff's chief deputy Jared Rigby said the girl was staying with her family in Snake Creek when she left to go on a walk about 3 p.m. When she didn't return at 7 p.m., the family contacted park rangers.
Rigby said the husband of the park ranger who lives in the area was stopping cars and asking if anyone had seen the girl. A passerby said they thought they saw her, and the ranger's husband was then able to find the girl.
Rigby the teen wasn't familiar with the area. A search and rescue team was en route when the girl was found.
