TAYLORSVILLE — A Taylorsville man was arrested Thursday after police say he assaulted his stepfather and left him in critical condition.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said emergency dispatchers received a call just after 10 p.m. Wednesday about a domestic dispute near 4500 South and 2700 West in Taylorsville.
When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old stepfather had been in an argument with his 32-year-old stepson. Hoyal said the fight started inside the home and ended in the front yard where the two men started to get physical. The stepson got into his car -- a Chevy Malibu -- which was parked on the street next to the curb. He was preparing to leave when the stepfather stepped between the front of the car and a Ford Ranger.
"As the step-dad went to get the license plate information off the car, he was standing in front of the car. The suspect accelerated, rammed the victim and ultimately pinned him in between the Malibu and Ford Ranger, which was parked on the side of the road," Hoyal said.
The stepson, identified as Mark Peterson, fled in the silver 2002 Chevy Malibu with license plate number C701SD.
Thursday afternoon, Peterson turned himself in to police.
