ALPINE — Four teenage boys were transported to a local hospital after wrecking a car that had been stolen Saturday morning.

Lone Peak Police officers observed a car drive through a stop sign on Main street in Alpine around 4 a.m. Saturday morning. The car was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver the of car tried to flee from the officer. In the process, the car hit a deer while "traveling at an extreme high rate of speed," Lone Peak police said.

The car turned onto a dead-end road and crashed into a pine tree after failing to negotiate the turn. Officers found four teenage boys in the vehicle at the site of the accident.

All four juveniles were transported to local hospitals with three of the teenagers in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle and two other boys were later released with minor injuries, and one remains in the hospital in serious condition.

After further investigation, officers realized that the vehicle had been stolen and several electronic items in the car had also been stolen from various cities earlier Saturday morning. Drugs, drug paraphernalia and alcohol were also located in the vehicle.

The teenage driver of the vehicle was booked into the Slate Canyon Detention Center on investigation of several felony charges. Charges will also be forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor on the three passengers of the stolen vehicle, police said.
