SALT LAKE CITY — The Wednesday's Child of the week is an ambitious teenage boy with dreams of one day building and opening his own restaurant.
Darian, 15, is interested in the culinary arts. He has talked about one day opening a restaurant with his friends, and the group has already picked out a name, design and types of food.
He received a private cooking lesson at Taste Culinary Boutique in Gardner Village on Wednesday to improve his skills and learn new techniques. However, Darian isn't partial to any particular type of food — he loves them all.
"My favorite food?" Darian said. "Food. Any food!"
Darian said he also enjoys building and designing and that he would love to become an architect. The 10th grader also enjoys music and woodworking. He is determined to do well in school so that he can succeed in his future dreams.
Darian said that he also looks forward to the day when he has his own family.
"To me a perfect family is someone who is always there for you," he said.
Darian is currently in counseling, which would need to continue after his placement.
Any families interested in adopting Darian can find more information on Wednesday's Child. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services.
