The City of Cedar Hills hosted a week-long family festival. Friday and Saturday a carnival will be held at Heritage Park from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday will be filled with other activities as well, including a parade at 10 a.m. at Deerfield Elementary and a concert in the park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Park ampitheater.

The festival will wrap up with fireworks at the Cedar Hills Golf Club. Residents of Cedar Hills are invited to join in the celebration of their city. Most of the events are free.

Scottish Festival and Highland Games

The 39th annual Utah Scottish Festival and Highland Games will take place Friday and Saturday at Thanksgiving Point. The festival celebrates the Scottish heritage of Utahns with traditional Scottish music, dancing, food and games.

Several Scottish bands will perform Friday night from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., and a bagpipe competition will take place as well. Seven athletic events will also be held to test the strength and agility of the clansmen, including the famous "Caber Toss."

The festival will go from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

The events run from 6 a.m. each day with the sunrise hot air balloon launch and end Saturday at 10 p.m. with fireworks.

Panguitch Quilt Walk Festival

The annual Quilt Walk Festival celebrates the rich pioneer heritage of Panguitch. When early pioneers settled Panguitch, the nearest city with supplies was 40 miles away in Parowan.

During the brutal winter of 1864-1865, a team was sent to retrieve supplies, but due to the deep snow, they were only able to make the trip on foot. The only progress that could be made was to lay a quilt down, walk to the end of it, relay it and walk again. Thus, the Quilt Walk Festival was created as a memorial.

The festival is celebrated with a variety of activities, including quilting classes, a heritage fair, a tractor parade, dinner theatre and a tour of a pioneer home.
