RIVERTON — A teenager who took his mom's car without permission could be facing criminal charges after crashing it into a house just east of 13400 South and Redwood Road.

Unified police say there were two other teens in the sedan with the driver when it crashed through the side of a garage at about 2:15 p.m. Neither of the passengers were injured, but the driver was treated for a cut on his hand.

Nobody was inside the home or the garage at the time of the crash. The homeowner said she had just left to attend her granddaughter's pre-school graduation when it happened.

The driver was taken into custody and was being questioned by police. There is some suspicion of intoxication of one or more of the occupants of the vehicle, police said.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
