SALT LAKE CITY — Four people were injured and one woman ejected from a truck Saturday after an accident on I-215.

At about 7:50 p.m., a silver Honda swerved to avoid a van, causing the honda to sideswipe a truck hauling a utility trailer, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck rolled as a result of incident.

The truck had three passengers, none wearing seat belts.

One woman in her 20s was ejected from the truck and suffered critical injuries. A male passenger in his 50s was temporarily pinned inside the truck, suffering critical injuries as well. The driver of the truck, in his mid 30s, suffered minor injuries.

The truck passengers were transported to Intermountain Medical Center for treatment, though no injuries were life-threatening.

The driver of the Honda had only minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.

Traffic has been diverted off of west bound I-215 at about 2000 East and the westbound side was shut down while officers investigated the crash. Images from ksl.com iWitness user Nichole Nielson show cars backed up and drivers out of their vehicles.

More information will be posted when it becomes available.
