OREM — A Timpanogos High School student died Tuesday after suffering from an illness.
The student, a sophomore girl, was suffering from an illness and died Tuesday night. Early reports said the student was on the school's campus when she died, but were untrue.
"There was a student that attends Timpanogos High School that unfortunately did pass away last night, but not at the high school," said Alpine School District spokeswoman Rhonda Bromley. "We certainly want to respect the right and privacy of the family — they're mourning this death."
Bromley said there may have been some confusion with a lockdown drill taking place at Lehi High School early Wednesday morning, where police officers were on scene. School was regularly held at Timpanogos High School.
"We did have a lockdown drill that happened at another high school, and I think those stories are maybe getting mixed a bit," Bromley said.
Other than the school's resource officer, which is always at the high school, there was no other police presence at Timpanogos.
