NEPHI — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper's vehicle was hit while exiting the freeway near Nephi, causing minor injuries to four people.

The trooper was exiting I-15 just south of Nephi at about 5:30 p.m., according to Trooper Jalaine Hawkes.

A Hyundai Santa Fe pulled out from a stop sight and into the lane the trooper was traveling in. Though the trooper swerved to avoid the car, they hit each other causing the trooper to spin out.

There were five people in the Santa Fe, including three juveniles. Three people from the vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The trooper also sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

All people involved in the incident were wearing their seat belts.

The trooper's vehicle was damaged significantly on the rear passenger side.
