PAYSON — A young girl was transported by medical helicopter to the hospital Thursday after a head-on collision.

At about 8:09 a.m. Thursday, a Chevy van travelling southbound on SR198 near 8500 South crossed left of the center lane, hitting a northbound Nissan sedan, Utah Highway Patrol reported.

Emergency personnel extricated passengers from the cars. The driver of the van, Aaron M. Moorman, 33, of Springville, was taken to a hospital for his injuries and arrested for investigation of driving under the influence.

A 7-year-old passenger of the Nissan, Presley Dyches, was flown by medical helicopter to a Provo hospital. The driver of the sedan, Lindsay Ann Dyches, 36, was transported to an area hospital.

Another accident was reported in Salt Lake City; a semitrailer is blocking southbound I-215 at 2100 South.

Several other wrecks were reported along the Wasatch Front Thursday morning.
