SALT LAKE CITY — Firefighters responded to a house fire early Sunday morning that resulted in $250,000 in damage.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire at 2941 S. Hudson Circle at 2:41 a.m. The homeowner was able to get out of his house safely. He went to a neighbor's house to call 911. His wife, who was out of town, was not at home at the time of the incidents.

Due to the fast-moving fire, firefighters had to maintain the fire from spreading to the houses on each side of the house. They also were able to protect the house's detached garage from the fire.

There were no injuries reported in connection with the fire. The husband and wife living at the house were displaced due to the fire, but the Red Cross was on scene to help them find a place to stay.

SLCFD investigators believe the fire started on the main floor, near the kitchen area, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The two-story house was considered a total loss.
