Segment 1

Monday, it starts. Utah's 60th Legislature — an annual event that often comes with a mix of anticipation and dread — convenes.

Important topics at the top of the agenda this year include: Education funding, ethics reform, and even taxes may be up for debate. Richard Piatt welcomed Representative Don Ipson of Saint George, the Assistant Majority Whip and Representative Rebecca Chavez Houck, Assistant Minority Whip to talk it over.

Richard Piatt continued his legislative preview with Deseret News reporters Lisa Riley Roche and Dennis Romboy and Steve Kroes, president of the Utah Foundation.

Segment 3

Last week, Democrats in Washington proposed bringing back an assault weapons ban first passed in 1994. There is obviously going to be a lot of debate on the issue, so Doug Wright makes the case for a more civil discussion.
