LEWISTON, Cache County — Police confirmed Monday that a man believed to be missing for nearly a week had been located.

Chase Clements, 22, went missing Wednesday sometime during his day off from work at a meat-packing plant in Hyrum. Monday, his mother Nancy Clements said several people had indicated the man was in Wendover. Later that afternoon, the Cache County Sheriff's Office said they had contacted the man and confirmed his safety.

Around 2 p.m. Monday, a Facebook user named Chase Clements posted on the "Chase is missing" Facebook page saying he was all right and that he was sorry for the concern his disappearance had caused.

"(It) started out as just a drive to get things figured out but i kinda just kept going. It was very selfish but at the same time it was something i was doing for myself that i felt i needed." (sic)

"For Chase to even post something on Facebook is a plus because communication has been nothing for going on a week," Nancy Clements said.

Chase Clements last spoke to his mother Tuesday, the family said. At the time, she said he sounded like his usual self.

But when he didn't show up for work Thursday, the family grew concerned.

His family said he didn't take any clothes or a toothbrush, and he left his dog as well, raising the family's suspicion about his disappearance.

According to the family, they filed a report with Ely Police and listed Chase Clements as a missing person, but ran into trouble obtaining information since he is an adult. Laws surrounding listing an adult as a missing person are stricter than those relating to children.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office searched areas Chase Clements frequented and tracked his cell phone and financial activity.

Friday, police confirmed the man had used his credit card in Ely, NV earlier that day to check out of a hotel there.

Police said there was no indication any crime had been committed or that he was in danger.
