ST. GEORGE — A St. George woman got a rude awakening early Saturday morning when a giant boulder crashed through her bedroom wall.

Witnesses told the St. George Spectrum it was about 3 a.m. when the 12-by-9 foot boulder "broke loose and rolled down the hill from Foremaster Ridge, crashing into a home located at 1681 E. 50 North Circle."

Neighbors who contacted KSL News said the woman was in her bed sleeping when the rock came through the wall and pinned her leg. She was somehow able to reach a telephone and call 911 for help, they said.

Homeowner Scot Denhalter told the Spectrum he wasn't home at the time, so his wife, Wanda, was the only one in the room. Once emergency responders arrived, Denhalter said his wife was taken to the hospital where she underwent four hours of surgery

Photos taken Saturday show extensive damage to the house.

St. George police have not returned calls from KSL News inquiring about the incident.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
