ROY -- A Roy woman who was shot four times over the weekend is now sharing her story. Vicky Locke says it was the frightening end to an abusive relationship that went on for too long.

Locke is doing amazingly well after taking those four bullets. She's back home now while her husband, the accused shooter, is behind bars in the Weber County Jail.

She says it started with a simple argument over a bottle of vodka, but turned into something much worse.

"It was pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, and I ran down the stairs into the front," she said.

She was trying for the front door, running from her husband, 40-year-old Christopher Locke. She says he was drunk.

"He had drank a fifth a bottle of vodka in an hour and a half," she explained. And as she threw the rest of the bottle in the trash, she says, "That's when things went from bad to really bad."

As she tried to leave the house and call police, Locke says her husband grabbed a handgun and shot her four times, all in the lower body.

"I started to scream, ‘Somebody please call the police, help me, I've been shot!'"

Making her way inside a neighbor's home, she started to realize how bad her injuries really were.

"The blood now was running off the tops of my feet, and the only place you could see my pants was the sides. I was covered in blood," she said.

By then, Locke said, her husband had run downstairs to get an assault rifle. She realized her 5-year-old son was still inside, sleeping through the whole thing.

"I didn't want him to be here. What if he was actually crazy enough that he would hurt him? I didn't think that he would, but I also never thought that he would shoot me," she said.

After a two-hour standoff with police, Christopher Locke was booked into the Weber County Jail. Today, four bullet holes can still be seen on the outside of the home.

"My little one did something that no little boy should have to do," Lock said. "He cut little pieces of round paper with tape on them to cover the bullet holes."

Locke is recovering with the help of friends. She hopes her ordeal may help others in abusive relationships.

"If you are in this situation, and if the person you're with doesn't seek the help, then you need to leave because they're never gonna do it," she warned.

Locke is seeking a divorce. Because half her household income is now gone, with her husband in jail, neighbors have started an effort to *raise funds for the family.
