SALT LAKE CITY — What appeared to be a suspicious package at Salt Lake International Airport was cleared shortly after it was discovered Monday.
Hazardous materials crews responded around 6:30 a.m. near gate B-17 in Terminal One. FBI agents also arrived to investigate.
Even after an interview with airport officials, it was unclear what investigators believe is in the package and why it was considered suspicious.
Five aircraft were held up because of the situation, including one that was delayed for up to an hour and 20 minutes. But spokeswoman Barbara Gann says it's now business as usual at the airport.
The package was taken by the FBI for further investigation.
