SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah company is doing its part to support victims of Hurricane Sandy.

During the month of December, Cuisine Unlimited Catering & Special Events will donate 10 percent of proceeds from food and beverages to the American Red Cross' hurricane relief effort.

For that, we gave Cuisine Unlimited a High 5.

"I am so, so surprised," said Maxine Turner of Cuisine Unlimited when we informed her of the honor.

She explained why a company in Utah is donating funds to the effort on the east coast.

"The generosity of this country is never ceasing," she added. "We feel this is our part to be able to support them."

She said Utah is an amazingly generous community, and the holidays are the best time to donate procedes because it's the busiest for business. Cuisine Unlimited caters for everything from home parties to corporate galas.

Our High 5 partner, Les Schwab, provided Turner with a basket of goodies as part of the High 5. If you'd like to nominate someone who's making a difference in the community, do so here.
