SALT LAKE CITY — The snow storm in Utah over the weekend brought accidents and power outages to many, but the upside can be seen on the faces of excited skiers ready to hit the slopes.

With so much snow, especially in the mountains, no doubt the skiers and boarders are wondering: when will the resorts finally open?

Brighton received about 4 feet of new snow this weekend, so it will become the first Utah resort to fire up the lifts Tuesday Nov. 13. Three lifts will be running with a 4th lift to open on Wednesday.

The folks at Brighton Resort said that they didn't have a pre-set opening date and they made the decision this morning.

The first major snow storm of the year blew through the Wasatch Front starting Friday evening, and snow has continued to fall through Sunday afternoon. The quickly piling snow and sleet has cause over 100 accidents and injured at least 34 people over the last two days, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

"The boss just got up, went outside to check out how the snow-making did, checked out how much natural snow we had, drove around on the snowmobile, and liked what he saw," said Jared Winkler, public relations representative for Brighton

Other resorts received a significant amount of snow according to Ski Utah, with Alta topping the list at 48 inches right now and Brighton coming in second at 47 inches.

• Brighton, Nov. 13, 47 inches
• Canyons: Nov. 23, 30 inches
• Deer Valley: Dec. 8
• Eagle Point: Dec. 21, 24 inches
• Park City: Nov 17, 30 inches
• Powder Mountain, Nov. 21, 14 inches
• Snowbasin: Nov. 22, 14 inches
• Snowbird: Nov 17, 43 inches
• Solitude: Nov. 14, 35 inches
• Sundance: Dec 7
• Wolf Mountain: Nov. 23
