Randall Jeppesen, KSL Newsradio The Utah-based survey company Western Wats says it is not backing any political candidate. This, as rumors fly about a push poll that paints Mitt Romney in a negative light and praises John McCain.
Western Wats Chief Service Officer Jeffrey Welch says he can't say what polls they do and don't do because of privacy agreements they sign with all of their clients.
However, Welsh did say, "We have not been doing any polling in Iowa or South Carolina. We have recently been running polls in other states, including New Hampshire."
What about claims that Western Wats has ties to Mitt Romney? "There are no ties directly with the Romney campaign. Indirect ties to the Romney campaign? I don't know. Our clients hire us, and we don't know who the end user of the data is, and that's done on purpose," Welch said.
He says they don't push-poll.
