ROY — Police throughout the Mountain West are all on the lookout for the "Bucket List Bandit," who has held up banks in four states, including Utah.

Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham confirmed Friday that the bandit who robbed the Wells Fargo branch near 5600 South and 1900 West in Roy last week is the same robber who it three other banks before that. In each case, he used the same operating procedure.

First, he hands the bank teller a note that says basically, "Don't mess with me, and I won't mess with you. I need this amount of money, and I have just four months to live," Whindam explained.

When he committed the July 6 robbery in Roy, police believe the man had just come from a holdup he staged at a bank in Pocatello. He also hit banks in Colorado and Arizona last month.

"We've reviewed very carefully the photography at all four banks, and even in the one bank he was wearing everything from the same shirt, pants" to the same shoes, Whinham said.

Police aren't sure if the "Bucket List Bandit" ever had a weapon, and they're not even sure if he's really dying.
