SALT LAKE CITY — A Delta flight bound for Paris blew a tire on takeoff, forcing the airplane to circle the airport for a couple of hours to dump fuel before it could safely land.

The 198 passengers on board Flight 89 to Charles de Gaulle Airport were shuttled off the tarmac by bus Saturday evening, while maintenance crews assessed the extent of damage to the equipment on the 767ER-300.

Trouble was first reported at 4:50 p.m. and by shortly after 7 p.m., emergency dispatchers were reporting the plane had safely landed. Gann said it was likely the passengers would be rerouted to another flight that evening.

No passengers or crew were hurt, though some passengers KSL spoke with said the landing was bumpy, but they were grateful it was nothing more serious.

"Looking out when you landed and you see ambulances and emergency personnel, there could have been a worse outcome of course, so we're very lucky," said Greg Ebstein, a passenger on-board the plane.
