(KSL News) -- Residents of a west side neighborhood oppose the building of a shopping center catering to the Latino population.
At a community meeting last night, several Glendale residents said the center would further segregate the area and lead to a "Balkanization" of the west side.
They claim the neighborhood is only 30-percent Latino, and therefore would discriminate against a large part of the community.
The city council supports the project and is willing to provide millions of dollars in loans for construction of the shopping center.
