Randall Jeppesen, KSL News Radio After a long, dangerous summer with damaging wildfires, strict fire bans in Utah's campgrounds and backcountry are now being lifted. This comes just in time for the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
To have a great camping trip it really helps to have a campfire. "We're very glad that we have been able to rescind the fire restrictions," said Loyal Clark, spokesperson for Uinta National Forest.
Clark said all of Utah's national forests have lifted their campfire bans. There are still a few restrictions on state lands in Tooele County, also restrictions west of I-15 in Utah and Box Elder counties.
In general, Clark said most people obeyed fire restriction laws throughout the summer. "[There were] very few human-caused wildfires throughout the forest," she said.
The gun shooting ban in Utah County is now gone as well.
