SALT LAKE CITY — A motorcyclist was killed Thursday after he collided with a semitrailer on I-215.
Larry Ith, 70, of West Valley City was entering the freeway as a semitrailer was passing in the far right lane, a Utah Highway Patrol spokesperson said. The motorcycle merged while on the southbound onramp from S.R. 201. Both the man and his bike went under the rear axles of the truck.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on the west belt of I-215 southbound near the state Route 201 junction, UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said.
Three of the five lanes were shut down as troopers investigated the accident.
