(KSL News/AP) Utah's major wildfires are at or near containment.
Crew contained the Mathis fire over the weekend. That fire was smaller, only burning in about 1,800 acres, but was of serious concern because it was burning near mines and gas wells in Carbon County.
Fire officials say the Milford Flat fire, the largest in Utah state history, could be listed at 100 percent containment by tomorrow.
That fire burned in an area of more than 560 square miles in central Utah near Milford.
Crews for both fires will continue to monitor them and do cleanup work on hot spots.
The Neola fire burning in the Uintas is not gaining any acreage and is more than 80 percent contained.
Viewer Lance Keen sent us pictures of a new fire burning just off Interstate 15, about five miles south of Cedar City.
That's proof the wildfire season is far from over. Hot, dry conditions persist and a statewide ban on campfires on federal and state lands continues.
