Salt LAKE CITY -- This week YouTube celebrates its sixth anniversary. Founded in 2005, YouTube is one of the most popular websites in the world. It trails only Facebook and Google, which purchased YouTube for $1.65 billion when it was less than two years old.

It's estimated that YouTube adds 24 hours of video content every minute. Much of it represents copyright infringement and almost none of it is worth watching.

OK, that's not fair. There is a lot of YouTube worth watching. Don't believe me? Just go to YouTube and search "How to make a fool of yourself."

Just remember that when you play on YouTube, the Internet is forever. And also that Congress extended the Patriot Act. So, just know what you're getting into.

And speaking of snoopy governments, Facebook is under new scrutiny by governments around the world after it played such an important part in revolutionary events in the Middle East. You'd think Facebook would brag it up, but perhaps concerned about restrictions on its business, Facebook has stayed very quiet.

Some activists are calling for Facebook to allow fake profiles to protect the identities of activists as they organize online. But let's face it -- how many would use a fake profile to fight for their freedom and how many would use a fake profile to stalk their ex-girlfriend?

Happy birthday YouTube! The following video now has well over 281 million views and I have no idea what that says about our culture. I hope it's something good.
