WEST JORDAN -- Fire officials spent Sunday trying to clean up massive amounts of water as they tried to find the cause of a fire that left 11 people without a home.
The fire broke out at the home near 1300 West and 7200 South around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Though everyone inside made it out safely, the structure has been deemed a complete loss.
Fire officials said Sunday the basement of the home was under three feet of water -- originally used to put out the blaze. They say the fire likely started in the basement and must wait until the water drains to pinpoint the cause.
Officials say it appears two families lived in the home and that all 11 people were inside when the fire started. One of the residents woke up to the smell of smoke and was able to get everyone out to safety.
