(KSL News) -- Whether it's using a flash grenade or breaking out a window to gain access, SWAT teams need to practice.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department SWAT team hit the course today at an abandoned house that's set for demolition.

Sgt. Jason Mazuran, SWAT, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Dept.: "For a SWAT team training is incredibly important. It means everything in terms of being prepared for any contingency or situation."

SWAT teams are called to all kinds of violent situations, such as serving warrants to apprehending hardcore offenders and gaining access to barricaded buildings where hostages are being held.
