SALT LAKE CITY -- In a race that was too close to call just an hour ago, Utah pollster Dan Jones no projects incumbent Jim Matheson will be victorious over challenger Morgan Philpot.

According to Dan Jones & Associates, new numbers indicate Matheson will win the race by 3 to 5 percent.

The next tight race is for Salt Lake County district attorney. It was also too close to call at first, but Dan Jones now projects Sim Gill will defeat incumbent Lohra Miller to become the next district attorney.

Now for the Salt Lake County races: For the at-large seat on the county council, Dan Jones projects it'll be Republican Richard Snelgrove over Holly Mullen, 58 percent to 40 percent. Pending other races, that could tip control of the county council back to the Republicans.

In the race for Salt Lake County sheriff, Dan Jones projects it's Democrat Jim Winder, the incumbent, 58 percent to 44 percent over Beau Babka.
