ALPINE -- A 50-year-old man suffered critical injuries to his head and face when the front wheel came off his mountain bike near Sliding Rock.
Lone Peak Fire Chief Brad Freeman says the man was biking with his son and other teens around 3 p.m. The group was going fast down a canyon trail when the front wheel suddenly came off the bike and the man fell, crashing into some rocks.
The man was flown to Intermountain Medical Center with severe facial and head trauma. Freeman says the victim was unconscious during most of the rescue.
