(KSL News) A man accused of committing a murder 27 years ago entered a plea of not guilty today.
Police say DNA found under Karin Strom's fingernails matched 56-year-old Edward Owens. Owens was an acquaintance of Strom's back in 1980, when she was found strangled in her home.
Her former husband was charged with her death, but a judge later dismissed the case against him due to a lack of evidence.
At a preliminary hearing last month, three men who worked with Owens in 1980 testified he had scratches on his arms and face the day after Strom's death. Police believe Strom was trying to fight off her attacker when she was strangled in June 1980.
