SANDY -- Lunch hour turned into quite the event at Albion Middle School in Sandy when one of its teachers won an online contest.

Amy Olsen received the 2010 Burt Brothers "Teacher That Does It Better" award. The honor came with a new car for Mrs. Olsen to drive for the next two years.

Her principal nominated her for the honor. She beat out dozens of others in online votes.

"I had tried to envision myself driving it to kind of have some positive vibes to win the contest," Mrs. Olsen said. "But I didn't think it would actually happen."

Ron Burt, co-owner of Burt Brothers Tire and Service, said, "It's fun to give back to the community in such a way. Teachers are not on everybody's high-paid list. We want them to know how grateful we are for what they do for us and our kids."

Mrs. Olsen says she loves to teach and would do it even if she only earned $2 an hour.

As part of the contest, she also received $1,000 to buy supplies for her classroom.

Mrs. Olsen previously taught at a community college but moved to the middle school level to make an impact on students earlier in life.
